Our Lady of Mount Carmel School Names Courtney Bridget as Head Varsity Football Coach
Our Lady of Mount Carmel School is excited to announce the appointment of Mr. Courtney Bridget as Head Varsity Football Coach. Serving as the Head Assistant Coach and Defensive Coordinator last season, Coach Bridgett replaces Devin Redd.
Coach Bridget is a graduate of Dunbar High School where he was a First Team All State and Baltimore Sun selection. He continued his playing career at UNLV and then transferred to Hampton University, where he started as a defensive back. Coach Bridget continued his playing career with the Washington Commanders.
Joining the Cougars staff as the Assistant Head Coach and linebackers coach is recently hired Associate Athletic Director Trevor Walker. Walker, a three time New Jersey All-Prep selection at the Pennington School, played linebacker at Towson University. After working briefly in the private sector, Walker transitioned to education and coaching, working as an assistant coach at Coppin St., Reginald F. Lewis, Woodlawn, and most recently as the Head Coach of Carver Vo-Tech.
President Lawrence Callahan believes “they are both grounded, family men who value the development of young people and the advancement of our institution.”
Athletic Director Alex Brylske added, “We are excited to begin the next chapter of the growth of our football program. Coach Bridget and Coach Walker bring immense experience, presence, and professionalism to our program.”
With last season’s C Conference title, Coach Bridget will now lead the Cougar squad into the highly competitive B Conference in 2022.
